The
Friends of Princes Park, Eastbourne
group was formed on the 15th November 2005. Some of the groups' specific
aims are to influence and raise funding for improvements to the Park; to
encourage the responsible authorities to make the Park safe and pleasant, now
and for the future, to enhance and preserve wildlife and conservation, play
facilities, heritage and sporting facilities.
The area of Princes Park is
within the boundaries of Wartling Road, Channel View Road and Royal Parade.
We hold quarterly General Meetings to which
all members and friends are invited. These meetings are for the general
discussion of any known issues within the Park, feedback and reports of progress
by the Committee. We also hold a yearly Annual General Meeting in November
when Officers and Committee are elected.
The Committee and members voted that any funds raised will be used for the
benifit of the Park, with a small amount being used for administration/publicity purposes.
Of the monies raised so far, four thousand pounds has been given to Eastbourne
Borough Council towards the purchase of trees and plants for the scented garden
and towards the new Victorian Arch sign on the main gate at the junction af
Channel View Road and Royal Parade.
In partnership with Eastbourne Borough Council our aim is to assist the Council
in maintaining the Park and to enhance the facilities both by fund raising and
regular consultation with the Parks and Gardens staff.
